This studio focuses on product innovation and development, representing oneof their 44 global studios. The space featuresa combination of collaborative learning and working spaces where product teams are empowered to design for IBM’s most invested business units.

USAA is a company known for world-class customer service and innovation. With 12 million+ members to date, USAA was one of the first US banks to provide mobile check deposit and online banking. The USAA Chief Design Office has employees in Austin, San Antonio, and Plano. With a team of 200+ designers and growing, the department serves not only its member experiences, but also the evolution of operations, innovation initiatives and customer support through a stated design thinking program.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Private tours of USAA's new design studio which opened in February 2017. Explore USAA's recent launch of an aerial maps tool, utilizing drone photography to help members affected by hurrincanes begin the claims process faster, often before they were able to physically return home. USAA is making significant investment in driving the future innovation of digital experiences to provide the same level of exceptional care and service that it does through its traditional channels. Digital transformation is all about people and Charles Schwab is using Design Thinking to innovate new ways of developing solutions to get better outcomes faster. Through this three-year transformation, Charles Schwab has embraced a people-first approach of radical collaboration across the company because all of us are smarter than any of us. This has helped establish new ways of working where people from all disciplines come together to: Prioritize user needs work iteratively, act quickly, make to learn, and test with users every step of the way. This people-first approach of working was made possible through organization-wide education around design thinking to: demystify and democratize the design process, understand the journey from a user's perspective, and think differently about hot to approach problems.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Schwab UX team has 80+ team members across our San Francisco, Austin, Denver, and Chicago offices. The Austin campus at Gracy Farms spans 55 acres with over 450,000 square feet of space including open workspaces, hiking trails, innovative video conferencing technology, and public spaces for hosting industry events and having fun. Large, open spaces with lots of natural light foster collaboration across teams as well as quiet, personal spaces to work individually. Training rooms help build a culture of innovation where people are working together to grow and learn. A third building is under construction that will continue our efforts toward design thinking and putting users first with dedicated space to for user testing.
